My name is Tristan Machado, I am a UX/UI Designer and Researcher with over 3 years of practice in crafting user-centered digital experiences. My journey into design started with a simple love for learning, problem solving and creativity.
My work style is curious and proactive; I'm the type who digs deep into research, asks thoughtful questions and isn't afraid to iterate until we land on the best possible solution.
About Me
I’m a Florida-based UX Designer and Researcher with over three years of experience creating user-centered digital solutions. My work is driven by a genuine love for research, a passion for problem solving, and a commitment to crafting intuitive, visually engaging experiences. I was drawn to UX because it blends the skills I enjoy most; learning, critical thinking, visual design, and building tailored solutions that simplify complex problems and make people’s lives easier.
In my most recent role as a contractor at American Express, I designed and improved internal systems used by customer care professionals worldwide. In my three years at the company I conducted over 30 user interviews and usability tests, developed discussion guides and interview templates, and translated research insights into high-fidelity prototypes. My work not only reduced friction for end users but also aligned seamlessly with business objectives. I collaborated closely with developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure designs were both technically feasible and impactful.
Earlier in my career, I worked at startups and agencies, advising clients on web strategy, leading full-scale website redesigns, and managing small, agile teams to deliver solutions that met tight deadlines without sacrificing quality. Before transitioning into UX, I spent over five years in social media marketing, moving from Intern to Project Manager. This background sharpened my skills in data analysis, storytelling and client communication, all of which now strengthen my design approach.
I thrive in collaborative environments where ideas are openly shared and refined through iteration. I’m curious by nature, proactive in problem solving, and deeply empathetic toward the needs of users. Outside of work, you’ll often find me at the beach, playing tennis, or enjoying quiet mornings with my cat, Mochi. My long-term goal is to leverage my expertise in UX and systems design to create meaningful, human-centered solutions — and ultimately, to contribute to the growth and development of my home country, Jamaica.
